Karachi to receive Green Line BRT buses: Asad Umar

The first delivery of 40 Green Line BRT buses would reach Karachi port next week, stated the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Asad Umar.

While addressing a press conference along with Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi at KPT Port House Karachi, he revealed about the Green Line Buses.

Asad Umar briefed the media about the Green Line BRT project said that a bus workshop had been constructed for 80 buses whereas 22 stations had been finished.

The minister further informed that a complete Command and Control Centre had been customary for different BRT lines.

The Green Line bus service will become functioning in Karachi in November this year while the second shipment of 40 more buses will reach by the end of October, stated Asad Umar.

Whereas, Karachi’s Green Line BRT project with intersections is 24 km long which comprises 12.7 km elevated, 10.9 km at grade, and 422 meters underground, and has 25 stations.

The phase-II common strip from Gurumandir up to Municipal Park with a length of 2.5 km has two underpasses at M.A Jinnah Road.

The state-of-art subversive bus terminal with a parking facility and the commercial mezzanine floor was being also being constructed at Numaish.

The construction work on Phase-I was started in 2016.
