Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman-to-be Ramiz Raja has said that he wants to appoint a new captain for the Test cricket format in place of Babar Azam.

Ramiz also said a similar thing during the meeting with the players at the High Performance Centre.

The former captain believes that Pakistan can climb to higher ranks in Test format.

Earlier there were reports that Ramiz has made some adjustments in the national T20 squad in consultation with Muhammad Wasim, chief selector, despite Babar’s suggestions.

Babar wanted Sharjeel Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Fahim Ashraf and Usman Qadir in the squad but Raja had them removed and had Asif Ali, Khushdal Shah, Azam Khan and Sohaib Maqsood selected in their place.

Babar approaches Ramiz in regards to team selection

A few days back, the media reported that the skipper Babar was unhappy with the squad selected for the T20 World Cup.

It was further reported that Babar was taken into confidence while the team was being selected.

Sources further added that the skipper got in touch with Ramiz about the team selection but he was not heard.

Instead, a message was sent to Babar to focus on his own game rather than worrying about team selection.
