Eid Milad-Un-Nabi marks the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is a day of spiritual significance and is being celebrated across the country and the world today (October 19) with traditional zeal and fervour.
It is a public holiday in Pakistan today. Streets and roads in Pakistan, as well as bazaars, shopping centres and important buildings, have been decorated and illuminated with colourful lights, flags and buntings inscribed with Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) sayings and Quranic verses and slogans.
The most important part of this great day is focusing upon the character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH); on his teachings, sufferings, and how he forgave even his most bitter enemies.
Some Muslims donate to charity. Families gather together, feasts are prepared, and food is served to guests and the poor.
