Lt Gen Nadeem appointed DG ISI, Lt Gen Faiz posted Peshawar corps commander

RAWALPINDI: In a major reshuffle in the Pakistan Army, Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was transferred as the Peshawar corps commander, while Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum has taken over as director general of the Inter Services Intelligence, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.

A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Lt Gen Nauman Mehmood, who was the Peshawar corps commander, has been appointed as the president of the National Defence University.

Meanwhile, Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed, who was at the NDU, has been posted as Karachi corps commander as a replacement of Lt Gen Nadeem.

On the other hand, Lt Gen Muhammad Amir has been appointed as corps commander Gujranwala and Lt Gen Asim Munir has been posted as the quarter master general.

The ISPR also announced that Major General Asim Malik has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and appointed the adjutant general of the Pakistan army.

This is the second major shuffle within the army in a month.

On September 6, the ISPR had announced that Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza was posted as the commander of the Rawalpindi Corps. Before the transfer, he was serving as the chief of the general staff.

Lt Gen Mirza’s predecessor Lt Gen Azhar Abbas, who was holding the post of commander Rawalpindi corps since 2019, was appointed as the chief of general staff. Lt Gen Mohammad Chiragh Haider had been given the command of the Multan Corps.
