Twitter, recently took a jibe at the social media application Facebook, after it rebranded itself and came up with a new name for the parent organization i.e., Meta Inc. The giant conglomerate was previously known as Facebook Inc. The renaming act of Facebook prompted flood of memes on various social media platforms all across the world.

While content creators made memes (funny content) regarding Facebook’s recent move, the micro-blogging site, Twitter enjoyed posting a sarcastic tweet that said “BIG NEWS lol jk still Twitter”.

The post looks like the company is about to make an important announcement, while it ends up jesting about Facebook with Twitter saying, that it (the company name) is still Twitter.

Facebook recently renamed itself to Meta, at its last event ‘Connect’. During the announcement, the leading social media company announced that Meta will solely focus on the growth of Metaverse and help people socialize and grow their businesses.

Also note that after the announcement of rebranding, the company received intense flak as people made Facebook a laughing stock; some also claimed that the idea was introduced to deflect the ongoing Facebook-Haugen controversy and avoid the bad image.

Subsidiaries Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will keep their names under the rebranding, according to AFP.
