In a recent announcement made by Apple, it was declared that Johnson & Johnson’s CEO, Alex Gorsky is gearing up to join the tech giant’s board of directors.

Gorsky made up his mind to step down from the position of CEO at the time when Johnson & Johnson is working extensively to make its data more easily reachable to doctors and health specialists and focusing more on healthcare.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook called Gorsky “a visionary in healthcare”, in a press release. He also claimed that the CEO J&J has “a passion for technology”. Coming to Apple, the mobile phone market leader equally cares for health; Apple Watch for instance, is widely known for being a great fitness gadget.

The two companies are currently working alongside on the Heartline study, to check if Apple watch is able to detect atrial fibrillation before symptoms start getting serious.

Given that Apple is currently testing various health tools, someone experienced like Alex Gorsky would help navigate those hurdles in better ways, and turn it into a more efficient health tool in the market.
