CAIRO: Egypt’s headline inflation, covering urban consumer price, decreased to 6.3 per cent on an annual basis in October from an annual rate of 6.6 per cent in September, Arab News quoted CAPMAS, the country’s statistics agency, as saying.

The decrease in the headline inflation is attributed to a weaker non-food inflation, which fell to 3.7 per cent on a year-on-year basis in October from 4.6 per cent on a year-on-year basis in September.

Weaker clothing and education inflation, as well as the fall in rents, were the drivers for the decline in non-food inflation.
