HANGU: At least four terrorists were killed during a joint operation of Counter-Terrorism Departments (CTDs) of Kohat, Bannu and Peshawar, in Tall Tehsil of Hangu.

According to a statement by the CTD issued on Tuesday, the terrorists belonged to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Security was already put on high alert in the area after terrorists carried out several attacks on security forces during the last fortnight.

On October 24, security forces gunned down six terrorists, including a commander of the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), in an intelligence-based operation (IBO).

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), had shared that the security forces had launched the operation near the Jamboro area of Harnai in Balochistan after receiving “confirmed” reports of a “terrorist hideout”.

“Security forces conducted an IBO in the area to apprehend a group of externally sponsored terrorists working against peace in Balochistan,” the ISPR had stated. As soon as the security forces cordoned off the area, the terrorists “tried to flee” and “opened indiscriminate fire”, it had added.
