Google honors Lotfi Zadeh through a creative doodle

Google honors Azerbaijani-American computer scientist, electrical engineer, and Professor Lotfi Zadeh with a new and creative doodle

Google’s homepage shows Zadeh’s artwork with a colorful chart with the company’s logo.

On this day in 1964, Zadeh submitted his groundbreaking paper on Fuzzy Sets, which introduced the mathematical framework known as fuzzy logic.

Scholars have cited the Fuzzy Sets paper over 100,000 times. The theory offers alternatives to the rigid parameters of traditional logic and presents more ambiguous or fuzzy boundaries that more closely resemble how humans see the world.

The idea has been used in a variety of technology applications, including a Japanese subway system and anti-skid algorithms.

While giving him honors Google said “So here’s to you, Lotfi Zadeh! There’s nothing fuzzy about your huge impact on the scientific world,”
