PM Imran Khan wins ‘International Sports Personality’ award

Pakistan Prime Minister and former cricket captain Imran Khan have won the International Sports Personality Award, also known as the Muhammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, in recognition of his services to the nation, which includes leading the Pakistan team to her glory in the 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup.

The ceremony for the eleventh edition of the MBR Creative Sports Award was held at Deep Dive Dubai, the largest in terms of prize money and categories and the first dedicated to sports creativity, was held on Tuesday at Deep Dive Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, and Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees.

As Prime Minister, he continues to inspire young people by elevating the status of sports in general, and cricket in particular, as well as empowering Pakistani society via sports. Nearly 42,000 players are officially registered with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and half of the country’s 221 million people identify as cricket fans.

As per reports, the award will be officially handed to Imran next year on January 9.
