Weekly point of sale transactions fall 3.3% in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: The total value of point of sale transactions in the kingdom fell 3.3 per cent to SR10 billion ($2.7 billion) in the week ended November 6, compared with SR10.3 billion in the previous week, Arab News quoted the Saudi Central Bank, as saying.

According to the SAMA’s weekly report, the number of transactions slid slowly by 0.3 per cent. Data showed the decline was steepest for the beverage and food sector; followed by the health sector.

Meanwhile, the value of PoS transactions for hotels saw an upswing of 6.7 per cent, while jewellery transactions’ value recorded a rise of 8.3 per cent during the week.
