Apple (AAPL.O) has filed a case against Russia’s anti-monopoly authority over alternative payment options on its App Store platform, according to court documents obtained by the RIA news agency.

According to the report, in late October, Russia filed an antitrust complaint against Apple, accusing that it failed to allow app developers to inform customers about other payment choices while using its App Store. If proven guilty, Apple might face a fine depending on its revenue in Russia.

The Moscow Arbitration Court designated Apple as a claimant and Russia’s Federal Anti-monopoly Service (FAS) as a defendant in “economic disputes over administrative legal relations.” in documents published on Dec. 1.

Forbes Russia cited a FAS representative as saying that the proceedings related to a warning it issued on Aug. 30 about Apple’s apparent failure to advise consumers that they might pay for purchases outside the App Store.

A request for comment from the FAS was not immediately returned.

In September, a federal judge in the United States delivered an order forcing Apple to enable developers to send their users to other payment systems, prompting a backlash against the company’s App Store guidelines.
