KARACHI: Inverex Solar Energy held a seminar on solar energy awareness to promote the installation of solar systems at homes and offices, a statement said on Saturday.
The government of Sindh’s secretary for Energy Department, Abu Bakar Ahmed Madani, while speaking as the chief guest at the seminar said: “No restriction at all in Pakistan if power consumers want to install solar systems to energise their homes, offices.”
The Sindh government has advised the general public to install solar systems as an effective and clean off-grid solution to meet their energy needs both for their homes and offices.
The power consumers could utilise the option of net-metering to earn money by installing the solar system as the additional electricity produced by the clean energy option would be supplied to the grid system, Madani said.
He said that a one-window solution has been introduced by the Sindh government to encourage the installation of solar energy systems in the province.
The energy secretary said the solar energy is a clean and environment-friendly option to generate electricity, compared with the use of conventional sources, including furnace oil, natural gas, and coal for power production.
The Sindh government has started the process to explore new wind corridors after maximum utilisation of the existing Jhimpir-Gharo wind corridor.
The Sindh government’s Energy Policy also stood for maximum utilisation of green energy options instead of using conventional options of electricity generation to safeguard the environment as per the global conventions.
Inverex Solar Energy chief executive officer Zakir Ali said that his company is currently working on off-grid power generation, which needs to be further increased. With the promotion of solar systems, common people can generate electricity and sell it to the government and the general public.
The representative of the electronics market dealers’ association said that the traders were ready to perform their due part to promote usage of solar home systems in the country if they were given the right incentives by the government.
