CANBERRA — South Australian authorities have warned the state’s border could still be slammed shut to interstate travelers in response to the Omicron variant.

South Australia (SA) Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said on Monday he could not rule out hard border closures to keep the Omicron COVID-19 variant out of SA before Christmas on Dec. 25. (Australia-COVID-19-Omicron)

LONDON — A further 86 cases of the Omicron COVID variant have been reported in Britain, taking the total to 246, British health authorities confirmed Sunday.

This compares with a total of 160 on Saturday, an increase of more than 50 percent, according to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).

JERUSALEM — The number of Omicron COVID-19 variant cases in Israel rose from seven to 11 on Sunday, the Israeli Health Ministry said in a statement.

Two of the four new cases are passengers who have recently returned from France. Both of them have received three shots of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19.

NEW DELHI — India’s tally of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 rose from five on Sunday morning to 21 in the evening.

During the day, nine cases of Omicron variant were reported from Jaipur, the capital city of western state of Rajasthan, and seven from the southwestern state of Maharashtra. Enditem
