PBC issues notices to lawyers involved in torturing judge

LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council on Wednesday issued show-cause notices to the lawyers involved in torturing a sessions judge who sentenced deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner Mandi Bahauddin for contempt of court.

On Tuesday, a group of lawyers entered the court of Consumer Court Judge Rao Abdul Jabbar Khan, insulted and tortured him in protest against the issuance of a show-cause notice to DBA President Zahid Gondal.

The judge had alleged that the Bar president was forcing him not to take action against DC Tariq Basra and AC Imtiaz Ali Baig for contempt of court.

Punjab Bar council’s executive committee issued show-cause notices to the delinquent lawyers and directed them to appear before it by December 6 along with their replies.

The executive committee has summoned six lawyers, including the secretary district bar, by issuing show-cause notices.
