Punjab enhances allocation for development schemes

LAHORE: The Punjab government has enhanced the development allocation for the ongoing fiscal year, an official said.

Chairing a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet’s Standing Committee on Finance and Development, Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht said that after enhancing the development budget by Rs85 billion, the total ADP allocation stood at Rs646 billion.

The minister said most of the additional funds would be spent on education, healthcare and infrastructure development projects.

Giving details, he said, Rs18.526 billion additional amount has been provided to the specialised healthcare and medical education department for completing 22 development schemes.

The primary and secondary healthcare department would complete six schemes with an additional amount of Rs7,500 million. The LDA would be provided Rs7,000 million for completing infrastructure projects, he said.

The meeting also discussed more than 40 recommendations, in addition to an increase in the ADP funds of the P&D Department, which included more schemes in ADP and the provision of medical expenses to the government employees.
