Punjab governor calls on UK’s leader of opposition

LONDON: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammed Sarwar has called on United Kingdom’s Leader of the Opposition in the House of Commons and senior leader of the Labour Party Keir Starmer during his visit to the United Kingdom.

In a tweet, Muhammed Sarwar apprised that he had “a very productive” meeting with Sir Keir Starmer and Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Lammy.

“Pakistan has facilitated an evacuation of foreigners on request of the international community and will work with all stakeholders to address Afghan crises, however, the world must unite to prevent the looming humanitarian catastrophe in Afghanistan,” he said during his meeting with the UK’s opposition leader.

On November 11, Argentine Ambassador to Pakistan Leopoldo Francisco Sahores and Punjab Governor Sarwar had discussed bilateral relations, cooperation in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, information technology and industrial sectors, a statement had said.

The ambassador, who called on the Punjab governor, had appreciated Pakistan’s role in establishing peace in the region and eradicating terrorism.

Argentine was working closely with Pakistan in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceuticals and information technology, he had said, adding that the relations between the two countries would be stronger in the days to come.
