KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has awarded a contract worth Rs100 million for IT and cyber-security domain to Supernet Limited, a bourse filing said on Wednesday.
The contract involves supply installation, maintenance and technical support of the next generation intrusion detection and protection systems to secure SBP infrastructure, it added.
“Telecard is pleased to announce that its 100 per cent-owned subsidiary, Supernet Limited, has been awarded a contract by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in the IT and cyber-security domain worth close to Rs100 million,” the filing said.
“This contract involves supply, maintenance and technical support of the Next Generation Intrusion Detection and Protection Systems (IDPS) to secure [the] SBP infrastructure from Advance Persistent Treats (APT).”
The IDPS system will protect the SBP systems from unidentified threats originating against any of the SBP system, application and hardware, and will help the central bank with remedial measures if and when a malicious behaviour is detected.
The system will protect the SBP network from viruses and other dangerous elements, along with creating a second layer defence to its security network.
“The SBP has maintained the highest possible standards for vendor selection, amid stiff technical evaluative process and Supernet’s emergence as [a] successful bidder is a testament that it has the capability and capacity to undertake this project, paving the way for similar contracts in this sensitive cyber-security domain within [the] financial sector,” the filing said.
