Pakistan Peoples Party’s Khuhro had recently emerged victorious on a Senate seat from Sindh that fell vacant after the disqualification of Vawda.

The apex court three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, and Justice Ayesha Malik heard the case.

During the hearing, the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) lawyer requested the court grant some time to submit its reply.

The apex court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing on Faisal Vawda’s disqualification till the first week of April.

The court had issued notices to the ECP and Abdul Qadir Mandokhel MNA to file their responses to the PTI leader’s petition challenging his disqualification from parliament. However, the bench allowed the opposite candidate Faisal Vawda to become a party in the case.

Faisal Vawda has filed a plea in the apex court against the Election Commission of Pakistan order dated 9 February and Islamabad High Court judgment dated 16 February under Article 185 (3).
