At least four including Chinese nationals killed in Karachi University blast

KARACHI: At least four people including three Chinese nationals were reportedly killed in a van blast at the Karachi University on Tuesday, confirmed Sindh Police.

The foreign deceased includes two women and a man. The high-intensity blast in a van parked near the Commerce Department shattered glass windows and broke window doors of the nearby buildings.

More casualties are feared, relief sources told Bol News.

Teeror outfit Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility of the suicide attack targeting Chinese nationals in Karachi. In a statement released to the media, it said that the terror act was was carried out by the group’s first female attacker.

Karachi University Security Advisor Dr Zubair said that the security personnel have cordoned off the site of the incident and are pursuing investigations, adding that it has not yet been ascertained whether the van was private or was being used for pick and drop purpose.

The security advisor, earlier, expressed his reservations over the uninformed mobility of the Chinese students in the varsity. The new vice chancellor, Dr Nasira Zuberi, had recently changed the campus advisor and security in charge.
