The killing of a Florida teenager and the subsequent arrest of two of his companions occurred after they took turns shooting live bullets at each other while wearing armoured vests, according to police reports released on Friday.

A 16-year-old boy named Christopher Broad was discovered shot to death inside a Belleview residence on Sunday. Police claimed he died as a result of his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Belleview Police Department said in a statement, “An investigation found that Broad and another adolescent, Joshua Vining, 17, were trading shots while wearing a vest that featured some type of body armour.”

Officials say that another adolescent, Colton Whitler, was in the area at the time of the incident and provided officers with a fabricated narrative of what happened.

According to the statement, “Vining fired at Broad while he was wearing the vest and he was struck.”
