Foreign Office summons USA envoy, registers strong protest over ‘threat letter’

Pakistan Foreign Office has summoned the US Chargé d’affaires on Thursday and registered a strong protest over the “threat letter”.

Bol TV reported that the USA envoy has been called on the directive of the National Security Committee, which met in Islamabad on Thursday.

Foreign Office has also handed over a protest note to the USA envoy.

The note said that what contents and language used in the “threat letter” were open interference in the affairs of Pakistan.

The letter also expressed severe concern for undiplomatic language and amounted it to ‘blatant interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan by the country in question, which was unacceptable under any circumstances.

Earlier, National Security Committee (NSA) on Thursday expressed its serious concern over the “threat letter” and decided to diplomatically respond to it.

The committee’s meeting presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan was attended by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), all services chiefs and federal ministers and officials concerned.

National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf briefed the participants of the meeting on the formal communication of a senior official of a foreign country to Pakistan’s envoy in the said country in a formal meeting which was conveyed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The National Security Committee (NSA) termed the letter an open interference in the affairs of Pakistan, which should appropriately be responded to.

The committee expressed its severe concern over the contents of the letter, terming it undiplomatic and amounted to ‘blatant interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan by the country in question, which was unacceptable under any circumstances.’
