Ramadan moon sighted in Pakistan marks beginning of the holy month

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Saturday announced of receiving testimonies from different parts of the country that the moon of Ramadan 1443 has been sighted in Pakistan.

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad presided over the meeting and announced in a presser that the nation will observe the first fast tomorrow (Sunday).

The zonal committees from different parts of the country also testified about the moon, Maulana Khabir said.

The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Peshawar for sighting of the moon of Ramadan 1443 AH. The zonal committees also held meetings at their respective headquarters across the country.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier predicted that the moon of Ramadan might be sighted today in Pakistan.

“There are chances of sighting of Ramadan moon today in the country. If it happens, then first Ramadan will fall on April 3 (Sunday),” said the meteorological department, adding that Sha’ban would have 29 days this year.
