Kyiv detained pro-Kremlin tycoon Viktor Medvedchuk after fleeing house arrest on Wednesday.

Medvedchuk, 67, believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is a personal friend and godfather to his daughter Darya.

On Telegram, Zelensky stated, “I offer to trade this person for our lads and ladies who are currently in Russian custody.”

“And may Medvedchuk inspire you. Even the oligarch escaped. What about Russian hinterland criminals? We shall acquire everything.”
Ukraine said Tuesday it has apprehended a major pro-Kremlin billionaire who avoided house arrest when Russia invaded.

Zelensky shared a photo online of a dishevelled Medvedchuk in a Ukrainian army uniform.

“Ukraine’s Security Service conducted a special operation. Bravo!” Zelensky texted.

Ivan Bakanov, head of the security service, said agents detained the pro-Russia politician in a “rapid and risky multi-level special operation.”

Medvedchuk, one of Ukraine’s wealthiest men, is a very contentious character.

An allegation of trying to steal natural resources from Russia-annexed Crimea and turning over Ukrainian military secrets to Moscow put him under house arrest last year.
