Authorities said Sunday that a Georgia woman is on the run after attempting to sneak narcotics and other contraband into the county jail where she worked. TreQuera Lashell Ford, a 24-year-old contract medical worker for the Fulton County Jail, smelled of marijuana when she came for her shift Saturday, according to Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat.

When a security guard asked Ford about the peculiar stench, the 24-year-old stated she left something in her car and hurried out of the facility, leaving her personal items behind, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies discovered 192.8 grams of suspected marijuana, 20 grams of suspected crack cocaine, two packs of chewing tobacco, 200 Newport cigarettes, and personal medical information inside Ford’s luggage. Cigarettes are illegal in the prison, which is a tobacco-free zone.

Ford is sought for violating a jail’s guard line, possessing cocaine and marijuana with the intent to distribute, obstructing a law enforcement official, and fleeing a police officer.

Labat told the station that officials have “zero tolerance” for people who attempt to sneak contraband into the jail and praised the deputy for her “excellent instincts” in apprehending Ford.

“There is an expectation and legal need that those who are contractors providing services at the Jail respect the law and work to preserve the facility’s safety and not endanger others,” Labat explained. “We are compelled to pursue criminal charges when someone breaks that trust and the law.”

Ford is thought to be driving a black Nissan Altima. Authorities advised the general public not to approach the fugitive and instead to dial 911 immediately.
