A shooting in San Bernardino, California, left eight people injured and one person dead late Friday night.

Following reports of a shooting, the San Bernardino Police Department went to the 3600 block of E. Highland Avenue around 11:53 p.m. PT. Officers arrived at the location to find a huge throng and heard that they were in the neighborhood for a party.

They found one victim outside a hookah lounge in San Bernardino, who was pronounced dead on the spot. Eight more gunshot victims have been identified. Many of the victims went to the hospital on their own.

They are being treated for their injuries, which do not appear to be life-threatening, according to the department. There have been no arrests made, and the culprit and motivation for the shooting are still being investigated.

The investigation has been taken up by homicide investigators who also rushed to the site. The victims did not appear to be purposely targeted, according to the preliminary investigation conducted by the police department.
