On Saturday, a 16-year-old kid was shot and killed near the famed “The Bean” sculpture in Chicago’s Millennium Park.

Authorities have taken two individuals into custody in connection with the shooting, but no identities or motives for the shooting have been released. According to authorities, the child, Seandell Holliday, was shot at the renowned tourist destination at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

“A 16-year-old boy was brutally slain near Millennium Park earlier this evening. This needless loss of life is intolerable “Lori Lightfoot, the Democratic mayor of Chicago, stated in a statement Saturday evening. “Tonight, a mother is bereaved, mourning the loss of her child and seeking answers. My heart breaks for the mother as she mourns this unfathomable loss.”

Lightfoot went on to say that her government intends to take “further efforts” to avoid future shootings, but she did not elaborate.

Holliday was one of many Chicago adolescent shooters this weekend. At least three additional people were shot, one fatally, in separate incidents around the city on Friday and Saturday.
