Austin Butler, who plays Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s film, gives Tom Hanks the best piece of advice he’s ever received. Elvis, one of the summer’s most anticipated pictures, will tell the story of Elvis Presley’s meteoric rise to fame and his tumultuous relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

Academy Award winner Tom Hanks plays Parker in the film, which also stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Olivia DeJonge, and Dacre Montgomery. Luhrmann’s participation with the film was announced in 2014, despite the fact that it had been in the works for some years. However, in a recent interview with GQ, Butler addressed how exhausting it can be to play such a high-profile role and provided some useful advise from his co-star Tom Hanks.

When Butler approached Hanks, he told him that the best advise he could give him was to read something completely unrelated to the topic he was working on every day.

According to Screenrant, Austin stated, “”Every day I try to read something that has nothing to do with the job that I’m doing,” [Hanks’ suggestion] gave me licence, since up until that moment, all I was reading was about Elvis. I was just listening to Elvis Presley at the time. Elvis’ influences and Elvis himself were the only things that mattered.”
