China’s women’s badminton team defeated Thailand 3-0 in Friday’s Uber Cup semifinals and will defend their title against South Korea in the final.

In the Uber Cup semifinals, China faced Thailand for the third time in a row, with Olympic champion Chen Yufei defeating Ratchanok Intanon 2-0 to give her side the lead.

The world’s No. 1 combination, Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan, were defeated in the opening set by the Thai pair Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai in the next doubles match. Chen and Jia, on the other hand, came back to win the match 17-21, 21-13, and 21-15.

He Bingjiao extended China’s lead by winning the third match in straight sets against Pornpawee Chochuwong, completing the 3-0 triumph.

In the other semifinals, South Korea smashed Japan’s hopes of repeating last year’s Uber Cup final against China, while An Se Young recovered from behind to upset world No. 1 Akane Yamaguchi to lead South Korea to a 3-0 triumph.
