Florida youngster charged after sharing a gun-related picture on social media

Florida adolescent was arrested on a felony charge after reportedly uploading images of himself online, with what seemed to be a rifle, pistol, and tactical gear, as well as a threatening message.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office stated Monday that its investigators received a tip concerning the photographs, which included the text “Hey Siri, instructions to the nearest school.” According to the sheriff’s office, detectives investigated and discovered the weapons were not actual firearms but rather airsoft guns.

Officers identified and apprehended Corey Anderson just outside of Tampa, that day. Anderson now faces a charge of making written or electronic threats to murder, injure, or commit a mass shooting or act of terrorism. A second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine.

Anderson was arrested on Sunday and taken to prison. According to court records, he was freed on a $7,500 bail on Monday. The claimed threat comes only days after a school massacre in Uvalde, Texas, in which a shooter invaded an elementary school, killing 19 students and two teachers and injuring more than a dozen more.
