George Floyd’s 2nd anniversary

Wednesday marks the second anniversary of the police killing of George Floyd, which triggered months of protests and fervent promises from Democratic leaders to better safeguard Black Americans.
But, two years later, nothing has changed to assist repair America’s connection between people and police, or the country’s tumultuous racial relations.
This month, an 18-year-old guy is suspected of driving hundreds of miles to carry out a racist slaughter at a grocery shop on Buffalo’s predominately Black East Side.
The gunman, who allegedly hurled racist epithets as he opened fire in the store and its parking lot, killed ten people and injured three more.
He was taken into custody by police unhurt.
“It’s fascinating how courteous and calm the cops are detaining the man who shot and killed over a dozen people in cold blood,” one Twitter user said. “If they had shown George Floyd this degree of respect for attempting to spend a false $20 money, he would still be alive.”
Floyd had used a fake $20 cash to buy smokes from a nearby convenience shop, according to the Twitter user.
Floyd died in police custody after former officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes, killing the unarmed Black man.
President Biden, who ran on a platform of bridging America’s chasm of race and politics, has acknowledged the reality of institutional racism inside its boundaries and committed to rectify the schism caused by his predecessor.
However, the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which Biden supported, is still stuck in Congress.
Biden is set to issue an executive order on policing on the anniversary of Floyd’s death, which will apply to federal agencies but not to the local agency with which Americans are more likely to encounter.
Family members of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old Black first responders slain by Louisville, Ky., police while carrying out a no-knock warrant on March 13, 2020, have been asked to attend.
