Huawei Mate Xs 2 goes global, Best Foldable Phone
Huawei’s new and greatest foldable phone has just arrived in the global...
Google’s fabled folding phone has just become more elusive. According to reports, Google’s foldable phone has been postponed even again, this time till next spring.
Google’s equivalent of the Samsung Galaxy Z series has been rumoured since early 2021, but The Elec revealed yesterday that the tech giant is cancelling its plans to launch its foldable phone in Q4 this year, instead opting for a spring release. Google postponed the rollout because the product isn’t finished, according to the Elec.
This would be consistent with claims from late last year that Google had halted all development on the project and was instead going back to the drawing board. Ross Young, a supply chain insider, backed with The Elec’s assertions, tweeting, “Hearing from multiple sources in their supply chain that the Google foldable launch was delayed [until] next spring.”

This isn’t the first time that reports of a delay have surfaced, much to the chagrin of enthusiastic Google fans who want to fold their phone in half like a sheet of paper. The initial rumours regarding Google postponing the technology surfaced in the fall of 2021, with Young claiming that the phone will not be released until after Q2 2022 at the earliest. We’re now in the second quarter, but we don’t have a phone.
At this point, the foldable Google phone is a matter of “I’ll believe it when I see it,” which should be sometime next spring. However, Google is presently 0 for 2 in terms of release dates.
