Border Patrol authorities in Texas apprehended two convicted sex offenders earlier this week after they unlawfully entered the United States from Mexico. On Monday, agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector captured a group of nine suspects soon before 5 a.m. The individuals were then taken to the Carrizo Springs Border Patrol Station for processing.

One of the individuals, Oscar Garcia-Solorzano, a 28-year-old Mexican national, was convicted of aggravated assault on a minor in Austin in 2016. He was imprisoned for two years before being deported back to Mexico, according to a press statement from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Later that day, Border Patrol authorities captured another group of 11 people, who were then transported to the Carrizo Springs Border Patrol Station for processing. One of the members, Alejo Manuel Hinojosa-Olguin, 32, was convicted of 4th degree felonious sexual assault of a child in Arkansas, according to records checks. He was sentenced to probation for five years and deported.

Garcia-Solorzano and Hinojosa-Olguin were both charged with re-entry after deportation, a crime punishable by up to 20 years in jail.

According to CBP, Border Patrol personnel met approximately 1,000 criminal migrants in the Del Rio Sector alone between October 2021 and March 2022.
