After United National Party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on Thursday, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa nominated four members to the new government on Saturday.

According to the President’s Media Division, new appointments include Dinesh Gunawardena as Minister of Public Administration, G.L. Peiris as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prasanna Ranatunga as Minister of Urban Development, and Kanchana Wijesekera as Minister of Power and Energy.

More ministers will be chosen, according to senior political figures, and the president and prime minister are pushing all political parties to work together to build a national administration to address the country’s ongoing political and economic uncertainty.

Following violent clashes between pro-government and anti-government protestors, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned on Monday.
