After more than a year of engagement, Bella Thorne abruptly broke her romance with fiancé Benjamin Mascolo.

On Thursday, the Italian musician confirmed the news on Instagram, writing a lengthy, poignant message to his ex-girlfriend in which he wished her the best and pledged to be there for her anytime she needed him.

However, a source close to the former couple told PEOPLE magazine that their “conflicting schedules led to a lot of time apart, which finally ended in the separation,” but that the two “part ways peacefully.”

The Midnight Sun actress and Mascolo were originally linked in April 2019. After two years of dating, the ex-couple became engaged in March 2021.

To be sure, the pair co-starred in the film Time Is Up, which was released in September of last year.
