ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has refuted reports about hefty expenditures on the renovation of his official residence.

In a statement, the minister clarified that he is not using his official residence nor does he have any intention to move there.

The minister was responding to news reports on spend Rs4.8 million on the renovation and refurbishment of his official resident before moving there.

Miftah Ismail said he is still residing at his private residence located in Islamabad’s F-7 area.

The finance minister admitted that he was allotted the a residence at Ministers Enclave but has not intention of moving there.

“I have been assigned a home in ministers’ enclave but have never visited that home and have no intention of moving there,” said Miftah.

He clarified that not a “single penny” was spent at his government residence. He also stated that he has not taken a car from the government and neither does he take any petrol or salary from the national exchequer.

Earlier, it was reported that Ismail has allegedly spent a hefty amount o Rs4.8 million from the national exchequer to renovate his official residence. The finance minister has been allotted House Number 22 of the Minister’s Enclave.
