David O’Meara is anticipating taking Maria Branwell to Royal Ascot for the Queen Mary Stakes following her game succeed at Sandown last week.

The James Garfield filly kept up with her unbeaten record in the National Stakes by bringing in Michael O’Callaghan’s Crispy Cat – who carried strong qualifications to the Listed occasion – somewhere inside the last furlong.

While she will without a doubt confront a few harsh abroad challengers from Wesley Ward and Aidan O’Brien, O’Meara expects the solid Ascot finish to take advantage of her natural abilities.

“I was extremely dazzled with her since I thought she had a ton of work to do from where she wound up,” said O’Meara.

“She dug profound and cut down the Amo horse (Crispy Cat). Both of them pulled far clear, maybe the one in front was halting, they put six lengths among them and the rest.

“She’s a truly extreme, affable filly with an incredible demeanor.”

He added: “I believe she’s a genuine five-furlong filly. A solid five furlongs at Ascot will be right up her road.

She’s not a five-furlong filly that is all speed and simply scratches home, she’s entirely managable with it and extremely intense.”
