Federal authorities in Rhode Island said that the head of a sizable drug trafficking network who brought millions of doses of cocaine and fentanyl into many U.S. states.

According to a statement from U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha, Juni Rafael Jimenez-Martinez, 47, a Dominican national who previously deported but however now residing in Providence.

He tried to shield himself from the drug trafficking operation by having people he trusted handle most of the operation’s day-to-day operations.

However, according to the prosecution, he monitored and controlled the importation, distribution, storage, and transportation of several kilograms of cocaine to New York City.

Authorities intercepted narcotics shipments in Missouri, Maryland, New Jersey, and Rhode Island throughout the course of the investigation.

Investigators reportedly found a total of 18 kilograms of fentanyl, nearly 20 kilos of cocaine, and one kilogram of heroin.

According to the prosecution, there was enough fentanyl to make 9 million doses.

Jimenez-Martinez however detained in the most recent instance in June 2019.

He previously convicted of narcotics charges in 2009 and given a sentence of more than five years in prison.

In October, he admitted guilt to narcotics and immigration-related crimes. In addition, he received a 10-year probationary period.
