The officer is currently in a serious but stable condition. The suspect however recently identified as 27-year-old Jalen Vales.
Two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder. One felony count of aggravated violence on a peace officer. And illegal possession of a firearm however brought against Vales.
In the 1300 block of West Taylor Street. Vales shot a male Police Officer and attempted to shoot another Chicago Police Officer. According to the police complaint.
The same report states that “the culprit however taken into custody and charged accordingly.”
According to Supt. David Brown. The wounded male officer has been for the Chicago Police Department for 15 years.
