Maria B is in Pakistan to educate “the illiterate and purposely stupid” about the Transgender Act.

Many people protested and sought a revision to the transgender bill passed a few months ago. Maria B has discussed the distinction between ‘transgender’ and ‘intersex’ people. The ace couture designer was criticised for sounding dumb, but it didn’t demoralise her.

The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018 intends to provide transgender persons with equal rights and legal recognition. Transgender people in Pakistan have the right to select their gender identity and modify it on government papers.

Ahmed Ali Butt requested Maria B to discern between the sexes on his show Super Over.

The fashion designer remarked, “Pakistan has an intersex community called Khwajasara. People who pretend to be intersex stole a recent intersex act. The bill advances a hidden agenda, not intersex rights.

Maria said, “There is an important issue which needs to be discussed, in Pakistan, we have an intersex community, which is known as the Khwajasara community. Recently, an act for intersex community was passed which was hijacked by people who pretend to be interesex but they are not. The bill doesn’t entirely cater to the intersex community rather promotes a hidden agenda.”

Maria continued, “We are working with Jamat E Islamic Senator Mushtaq to give rights to the intersex community on a priority basis.”

Maria completed her speech by saying, “Transgenders are persons who were formerly a regular girl or boy but thought they had opposite gender’s features, prompting them to proclaim their desired gender instead of the one allocated at birth.”

Take a look!

Transgender people do not identify with their birth sex. Transgender people often transition to ease dysphoria, by choosing a new name and pronouns.

Intersex people are born with chromosome patterns, gonads, or genitals that “do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies.”
