KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Convenor Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Sunday met with estranged party leader Farooq Sattar.
Khalid Maqbool visited Farooq Sattar’s residence in PIB Colony as the party gears up to protest for conducting fresh delimitations before conducting Local Government elections in Karachi.

Sources revealed that Dr Farooq Sattar assured Dr Khalid Maqbool of attending the MQM-P’s protest against the delimitations being held on January 11.
Farooq Sattar also put forward the suggestion of boycotting the local bodies elections, sources revealed. However, no decision was taken on the suggestion.
Both expressed concern over conducting the polls without rectifying the situation regarding the delimitation of constituencies. They also discussed the political situation which may worsen in the upcoming future.
Addressing a joint press conference, Dr Farooq Sattar said announced joining political efforts with the MQM leadership for the rights of the urban Sindh.
Sattar said he warned MQM leaders that signing a political agreement with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was a huge mistake. He slammed the PPP for not implementing the deal.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui welcomed Dr Farooq Sattar’s announcement to support to the MQM demands. He claimed that pre-poll rigging has started in Karachi and Hyderabad through flawed delimitations and bogus voter lists.
He said that the union councils (UCs) of Muhajir-majority areas are based on 80,000 to 100,000 citizens, while remaining UCs have 25,000 to 30,000 people where Muhajirs are not in majority.
He also slammed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for not fulfilling its responsibility for conducting free and fair polls. He said they have resorted to the streets for their rights. He clarified that MQM-P will not boycott the LG polls.
