In the drama Kuch Ankahi, a poster for Joyland was recently spotted in the backdrop of a scene in which Sajal Aly was standing in the front. Maria B pointed this out as a subliminal promotion of the LGBTQ agenda. She declared that she will continue to advocate for intersex people while refusing to let the transgender agenda overshadow the true intersex community and its struggles.

When analysing the programme, Faysal Quraishi called Maria B out on her fury and asked, “What does she want us to place Pathaan posters in the drama?” It is a Pakistani movie, he claimed, therefore advertising it is acceptable.

The film Joyland was first outlawed in all of Pakistan but was eventually made legal everywhere else, with the exception of Punjab, after it was charged with promoting the LGBTQ agenda there. The movie was nominated for an Oscar and won big at the Cannes Film Festival, but it didn’t make the final list of nominees.
