Pakistani celebrities grieve the loss of legend Zia Mohyeddin

Zia Mohyeddin, a well-known broadcaster, writer, and probably one of the finest orator, passed away. Pakistani celebrities, social media influencers, and individuals from all walks of expressed condolences.

At 6:30 am today, Mohyeddin passed away in a hospital in Karachi where he was on life support. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other notable individuals express their condolences in response to the news of his death.

Celebrities mourned the death of the renowned performer on social media, whose career spanned more than six decades.

Faysal Qureshi, an actor, and host, posted a photo of himself with Zia Mohyeddin and expressed his sadness at hearing of his death.

He referred to knowing him and being in his presence as a privilege. “For me it’s an honour that my daughter got to meet and know him just like I did. The new generation need people like him to learn so much from. His voice will echo throughout the literary world. Today is a sad day as we have lost a national treasure. A legend the world will never forget and stop loving,” the actor wrote.

 

He was recalled by Adnan Siddiqui as a legendary broadcaster, poet, actor, and theatre director. He wrote on social media that as we mourn his loss, we are reminded of the immense effect he has had on our cultural environment.
