Amna Ilyas is a well-known actress and fashion model from Pakistan. At the age of seventeen, Amna began her career as a model. After a while, she decided to pursue acting instead. In the dramas Tum Mere Paas Raho, Dil Nahi Manta, Aik Jhoota Lafz Mohabbat, Zinda Bhaag, Baaji, Saat Din Mohabbat In, Ready Steady No, and Stage drama Ankahi, she made memorable acting appearances.

Amna Ilyas recently made an appearance on The Talk Talk Show where she discussed item numbers. She said, “What is this word ‘item’, we call it a dance performance. Item words have come from our neighbours, people in India say, ‘hey you’re looking like an item.’ But actually, it’s a musical performance for me, I don’t want to attach that (item) connotation to it. Yes, it is set in that area where a girl is here to perform and entertain through her dance, but still, why do you have to call it an item number?”

Amna continued, “I think all the musicals of Hollywood movies are quite entertaining and they come in the film for some purpose. They are also doing dancing films, it is all about entertainment which we limit. Also, these stories come from real lives, we do dances at weddings, and people dance at their weddings, but it becomes a problem when we show it in films. Baaji and Zindabhaag had no item songs, it depends on the situation, if there is a need for an item song then why not, you should add it to the film, you can’t deprive people of their choices, don’t just watch if you don’t want to watch, choose the film of your choice.”
