Court issues permanent arrest warrant of Moonis Elahi

LAHORE: The Accountability Court has issued a permanent arrest warrant of former federal minister Moonis Elahi, the son of former chief minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi, in the case of kickbacks against government contracts.

The accountability court of Lahore issued a written order in the case and issued a permanent arrest warrant for Moonis Elahi.

The written order states that Moonis Elahi has been declared proclaimed offender for his non-appearance, and permanent warrants are issued for his arrest.

It should be noted that Moonis Elahi’s father and PTI President Pervaizz Elahi has been detained for several months in various corruption cases.

Earlier, On July 22, 2023, Moonis Elahi was declared an absconder in a money laundering case as well. A Lahore district court made the declaration over his continued absence from proceedings in the case filed by the FIA. The district court had also begun the process to freeze his assets, and bank accounts and cancel his CNIC and passport.
