Robert De Niro: His company required to pay former aide $1.2m
Robert De Niro’s production company has been ordered to pay $1.2 million to a former employee, Graham Chase Robinson, following allegations of gender discrimination and retaliation.
The jury’s decision concludes a lengthy legal battle, though De Niro was not personally found liable. Robinson, who worked for Canal Productions for 11 years, accused De Niro of abuse, demeaning treatment, underpayment, and assigning her stereotypically female tasks.
The actor denied the allegations, admitting to occasional bad temper but denying abusive behavior. The jury rejected claims that Robinson misused office funds but did not hold her liable for financial misconduct.
Robinson expressed satisfaction with the verdict, emphasizing the jury’s rejection of De Niro’s claims against her despite seeking $12 million.
