Factory producing fake medicine sealed in Karachi
KARACHI: The Drug Regulatory Authority Pakistan(DRAP) conducted a raid in fake medicine factory and seized a large amount of fake drugs and arrested five people including the owner.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Health has said that on the vision of the Caretaker Prime Minister and the direction of the Minister of Health, crackdown against fake medicines is going on across the country.
The spokesman said that the DRAP team conducted the biggest operation in Karachi, Sindh drug inspectors and police raided a fake medicine factory in Karachi.
In the fake factory drugs like Alpine, Alcon, Trigon and others were being manufactured illegally. The large quantity of fake drugs were seized in the operation.
The owner of the factory and others have been arrested by the police and legal action has been initiated against the accused while the samples of fake medicines have been sent to the laboratory.
Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan said that according to the vision of the caretaker Prime Minister, he is firmly determined to eradicate fake medicines from the country.
Dr. Nadeem Jan said that as soon as he assumed the portfolio of the ministry, DRAP was given the task of eradicating unregistered and fake medicines.
He said the elements involved in fake medicines are enemies of humanity, under no circumstances should they be allowed to play with human lives. He said Involved elements will be dealt with an iron hand.
