NEPRA increases electricity prices by Rs 3.5 per unit
ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the cost of electricity by Rs 3.5 per unit.
NEPRA has issued a notification regarding the increase in electricity price. According to the notification, the price of electricity has been increased due to the October fuel price adjustment.
The notification said that the electricity price increase should be charged in December electricity bills.
The increase in electricity price per unit will not be applicable to Lifeline customers and K-Electric customers.
The decision to raise the electricity tariff has sparked concerns among consumers who are already grappling with the challenges of rising inflation and economic uncertainties.
Earlier, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had approved a hike of Rs 1.52 per kWh surcharge for K-Electric (KE) consumers.
According to the statement of NEPRA, at the request of the federal government, NEPRA approved the imposition of an additional surcharge.
