ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) has given Justice Sayyed Muhammad  Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi till January 1 to submit his reply to the misconduct reference.

The Supreme Judicial Council, while giving time to Justice Mazahir Naqvi to submit his response to the misconduct reference, said that no time will be given after January 1. He said, “If the answer of Justice Mazahar Naqvi is satisfactory, then the council will end the proceedings”.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said, “It is a very painful process to take action against a fellow judge, we do not like to make a fellow judge stand in the dock and answer questions”.

He further said that audio leaks have to be checked whether the audio is correct or not, nowadays anyone can tamper with the audio.

On the request of Justice Mazahar Naqvi, the Supreme Judicial Council also opened the proceedings and further hearing was adjourned till January 11.

Earlier, Supreme Judicial Council has completed the proceedings against Supreme Court Justice Mazahir Naqvi.

The arguments of the complainants are complete, the sources said, adding that the complainants placed all the evidence and relevant documents before the Council.
