CTD arrests terrorists planning to attack JUI, ANP chiefs

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Peshawar arrested two suicide bombers belonging to the ISIS-K from the Matani area on Friday.

The terrorists were planning to attack the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and the Awami National Party (ANP) president Aimal Wali.

Speaking to the media, Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) Operations Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Najam Husnain Liaquat said that there was a report of the presence of a suicide bomber in Matani, on which the suicide bomber was arrested.

SSP CTD said that the arrested suicide bomber was identified as Adil Khan, while on the identification of the arrested terrorist, another accomplice Tahir was arrested.

Najam Al-Hussain also said that the terrorists had planned to target Maulana Fazal ur Rehman and Amil Wali Khan, the terrorists belonging to the Daesh Khorasan group.

The CTD officials said that the terrorists had also completed the reiki of the Mufti Mehmood Center as part of the plan.
